Schnader's J. Denny Shupe New Head of the Firm's Litigation Services Department



J. Denny Shupe was recently appointed as head of Litigation Services Department at Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, and John K. Gisleson will now serve as the new Vice-Chair of the Department.

Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP is pleased to announce that J. Denny Shupe of its Philadelphia office has been appointed Chair of the Litigation Services Department and John K. Gisleson of its Pittsburgh office has been appointed Vice-Chair. Messrs. Shupe and Gisleson will be replacing Samuel Silver and Jennifer DuFault James, respectively. Mr. Silver will be playing a different role within the Firm, having been elected to the Firm's Executive Committee recently, and both Mr. Silver and Ms. DuFault James will continue to play active roles in the Litigation Services Department, which is Schnader's largest department with more than 100 attorneys (http://www. schnader. com).

Mr. Shupe noted that he is looking forward to his new position. Mr. Shupe, who previously chaired the Firm's Aviation and Products Liability practice groups, is one of Schnader's leading aviation and product liability (http://www. schnader. com/schnader/NEWEST_4_02/siteFiles/offices/locationdetail. asp? fld_index=9) trial lawyers, representing national and international clients and litigating cases throughout the United States. He is an elected member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, and has been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer since 2004. A retired U. S. Air Force command pilot, Mr. Shupe served more than 23 years in the active and reserve forces and has more than 4,400 hours of flight time on a variety of jet aircraft. He presently serves as chair of the Aerospace Law Committee for the Defense Research Institute, a position he has held since 2006. An active member of the United Service Organizations (USO) of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey - also known as the Liberty USO - Mr. Shupe has served on the Board of Directors for the organization since 1991, and was Chairman of the Board from 2001-2004. Additionally, he served as the national chair for the United Service Organizations (USO) Affiliate Council in 2003-2005, and again in 2006-2007. Mr. Shupe was recently honored with the President's Call to Service Award from President's Council on Service and Civic Participation, which recognized his 4,000-plus hours of volunteer service and support of U. S. armed forces through the USO.



Mr. Gisleson began his career in Schnader's Philadelphia office before moving to the Pittsburgh office, which allows him to bring a unique cross-office perspective to his position as Vice-Chair, and which the new leadership team will emphasize. He previously served as co-chair of the Firm's Business Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Gisleson is one of Schnader's leading trial lawyers, specializing as a commercial litigation attorney (http://www. schnader. com/schnader/NEWEST_4_02/siteFiles/offices/locationdetail. asp? fld_index=8) in a variety of industries. He tries cases in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts, in addition to American Arbitration Association arbitrations. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Advocacy of Temple University. Mr. Gisleson has been a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Inns of Court since 1999, and has been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer since 2004. He also is active in community affairs, serving as the President of the Board of Directors for the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and Vice-President of the Rotary Club of Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park. He has previously served as a participant of Leadership Pittsburgh XIX, in 2002-2003.
