Erratic work schedules, sleep deprivation, circulation problems and weight gain have plagued many women who work virtually. Though many of these women elected to work from home-based offices for increased flexibility and the opportunity to spend more time with their families - the opposite is often true. Adopting unhealthy habits has led to serious health concerns among women working virtually. The online networking/support group Virtual DiVAs (http://www. VirtualDiVAs. org (http://www. VirtualDiVAs. org)) was founded to help connect these women and offer support in their struggle to regain life balance.

“Commitment to our clients, and to the success of our businesses often translates into long hours behind our PCs with very little activity,” group founder, Roxanne Ravenel revealed, “This type of sedentary lifestyle can quickly lead to serious health problems – weight gain, circulation problems, and the tendency to take care of everyone but yourself. Through online support and group activities - like our virtual group walks – Virtual DiVAs members are combating this tendency and seeing great success.”

Ravenel founded the group earlier this year as a way to help virtual assistants and other virtual professionals to keep sight of the importance of getting up from their desks, out of the house, and enjoying their lives. The goal of Virtual DiVAs members is to achieve business success through a more balanced work/lifestyle. The group’s innovative virtual group walks have motivated many of its members to spend more time away from the office as a way to spur a healthier lifestyle and increase productivity and creativity.

Group members offer each other support, inspiration and encouragement. Each member’s commitment to not only their own advancement, but to being an active participant in the success of fellow group members, has been a key factor in the positive results that many Virtual DiVAs members have achieved. The group is hosting an Open House teleconference on Wednesday, June 28th at 7:30PM EST with guest speaker Gillian Hood-Gabrielson, an Intuitive Eating Coach that specializes in helping women entrepreneurs overcome emotional overeating to achieve their natural weight.
