Working with ONRAD will allow La Maestra to continue improving access to care for the diverse, underserved San Diego residents. La Maestra's patients will be able to have ultrasounds performed and analyzed in the clinic, instead of traveling to the hospital or another doctor's office, saving them time and money. They can receive the results of ultrasounds more quickly, allowing more timely treatment of any health problems and reducing patient wait times. This partnership will ensure that patients receive quality, culturally-competent care in their medical home and that they fully understand diagnoses and providers' instructions in their native language. In addition, being able to charge patients for an additional service, instead of referring them out, will allow La Maestra to offset the costs of serving the uninsured.
